As promised, I wanted to share a Bee-utiful update with all of you about the swarm of bees that showed up on my farm last weekend and stuck around.
My neighbor knew one of the bee keepers in my town. He heard about my plight to save the bees and drove out to see me yesterday afternoon.
The bees somehow had lost their Queen but thankfully to his amazing knowledge and quick thinking... He brought over a bee box so I didn't have to wait for mine to show up in the mail (I have seizures I was diagnosed with recently... I'm not allowed to drive to pick anything up).
We think the bees lost their queen during a storm we had which is why the swarm stuck around and hung out on my tree for days. π₯°π
Today he's stopping by and delivering some larva that will help the hive make a new queen on their own. The hive is so large that when my bee box finally arrives... They're going to need it. π₯Ήπ€
It was too spectacular not to share... So here's a video of the breathtaking scene. This morning ALL the bees had moved into the nook (bee box) and we will be moving them into my flower field in the sunshine.
I had never met this wonderful "bee man" before. He has been a beekeeper for almost 40 years. He was delighted to teach me some things and as it turned out... He knew who I was! He saw the posts made about my flower cart that had been shared around town.
He told me it's important to their survival for new people to be taught how to take care of them and that they couldn't have ended up anywhere better. He said he loved my flower cart and it was a perfect fit.
So I hope you enjoyed this wonderful adventure and I'm so excited to read everything I can get my hands on to help me save our bees ππ₯°
Want to see something incredible?
We thought we stirred up a hornets nest but they turned out to be honey bees. Woke up this morning and they were still hanging around our farm.
Praying they stay and make a home in our flower field.
